Horse Riding

_MG_3934Sentein has its own riding school with up to 20 local breed Castillonnais horses available for daytrips or longer treks into the mountains. The Castillonnais, saved from extinction in the 1980s, has a dark chestnut coat and thick black mane. It is surefooted and strong, and sometimes a little stubborn…

Guests are guided by the easy going Willi and can choose some spectacular trips into the high pastures of Spain lasting three or four days. If your experience of riding schools involves trotting along a muddy track through flat country or close to traffic then you are in for a treat.

Gentler, lower level treks are also possible for those with less experience in the saddle and the school can handle eight children on horseback at once. July and August are busy at the stables but guests wishing to ride at any time would be well advised to reserve in advance.
